Stained Glass in front door 17 x 1 x 106 cm (W x D x H)
Stained Glass mounted in front door (W x D x H: 17 x 1 x 106 cm)

To make any design of stained glass we first design something on paper and duplicate this.

One of the designs is divided into a patchwork with a pattern shear, providing a template for each small glass piece.

The other design is fixed on a wooden board, with on two crossing sides a slat with a little gap in between.

The cut-out paper pieces are then transferred onto glass and cut out with a glass cutter.

To obtain the exact shape, some grinding may be needed.

Next to the slats we put the longest pieces of lead (H- or U-profile).

The glass pieces are slotted into H-sectioned lead cames, according the design.

Between the varied pieces of glass we only use H-sectioned lead cames.

To keep the pieces of glass on their spot we use glass blocks held in place by steel nails.

All the joints are then soldered together and the glass pieces are prevented from rattling by inserting a soft oily cement between the glass and the cames.

We can create a bespoke design for you, with coloured stained glass or clear mottled glass for your cabinets, windows or doors or create a custom leaded design as per your specifications.
