Fused glass: Colour Plate 1: Six Colours (∅ 42 cm)

Fused glass: Colour Plate 2: Variegated Colours (∅ 41 cm)
For the first and second work we applied six different enamels to float glass.
The enamels were mixed with only water and then applied to the whole plate, quickly wiped by a badger hair brush to leave as few stripes as possible.
After cooling down from the kiln the plates were cut in thin strips and set around a circle in the middle, and again put in the kiln, this time at fusing temperature.
For the first plate we kept the colours together; for the second one we decided to variegate. These kind of plates can be made with any (number of) colour(s), width (of up to 42 cm in diameter), and in block or variegated.

Fused glass: Green-Yellow Plate 3 (W x H: 20 x 25 cm)
The principle of the third work is the same as described above, but the strips are cut smaller.

Fused glass: Colour Plate 3: Green Bottles (∅ 41 cm)
For the fourth work we cleaned ten bottles of clear glass thoroughly with soda and added little bits of enamel to the water that was left in the bottles.
After evenly spreading the mixture inside the bottles, we put them in the kiln at fusing temperature.
Then we cut a plate of float glass to match the length of the bottles and fused it separately.
Afterwards we glued the bottles to the bowl with UV-glue using UV-lamps. The work in the photo has now been sold, but we can make a similar one, with different colours and bottles as you wish.

Fused glass: Green Bowl 2 (W x D x H: 14 x 11 x 4.5 cm)
The fifth work was made with reinforced glass that was broken into small pieces. The pieces were then fitted in a mould and some enamels were applied. And subsequently put in the kiln at fusing temperatures.

Fused glass: Peas Tree (W x D x H: 35 x 15 x 11.5 cm)
We got the inspiration for the 'Peas Tree' on my trip through Australia many years ago. At the time, I saw a very large 'Christmas tree' in front of a hotel, whose 'branches' were made with papier-mâché in the shape of giant pods. My pods were made of glass and on a smaller scale; they consist of two sheets of glass on top of each other with bubble powder in between. The bubbles, which represent the peas, were created during the fusing process. The branches, whose size varies, were then glued to a steel base. At Christmas time lights are mounted onto the branches.

Fused glass: Marbles Bowls 3 (∅ 25 cm, 17 cm)
The two bowls in the picture were based on the same principle. First, a variety of marbles were melted. Depending on the thickness of the melted marbles, a number of plates were then placed under and on top of the marbles and fired in the kiln. After cooling, the sharpest points on the edges were ground away.

Fused glass: Red, yellow, green, bronze bowl (∅ 30 cm)

Fused glass: Red, yellow, green, bronze bowl (diam. 30 cm) (∅ 30 cm)
This design was cut out of permanent vinyl by means of a plotter. Making the result as beautiful as possible required very precise work.

Fused glass: F1 Bowl(∅ 30 cm)
This design was cut from permanent vinyl using a plotter. Very precise work was needed to make the result as beautiful as possible. The colours refer to Red Bull's Formula 1 team and to Max Verstappen (including the finish flag, number 1, the Dutch tricolour and orange).

Fused glass: Melted Bottles 7 x 18 cm (W x D)
The bottles in this picture were first melted in the kiln. Then they were painted with Color Line Paints. This paint is fired up to 740 degrees to get a glossy result. Special care was needed with the red paint or mixes containing it; to prevent the red colour from turning grey, the kiln was left ajar up to 500 degrees.

Fused Glass: Stock jars with lid(∅ 8 cm)

Fused Glass: Stock jars with lid(∅ 8 cm)
The lids were made from a melted marble with pieces of glass fused together underneath to prevent the lids from sliding off the jars.
